PARENTING HACKS
My
Humble Pranams to all...!! So here goes my opinions and thoughts on
how to become a better parent. It’s said that parenting is an art
and there is no rule book and what works for one in their home with one
particular family might be different for others. But it’s necessary to be a
good parent knowing that our child constantly observe us and learn from what we
do. But parents are humans too and they tend to make mistakes and what is
necessary is to laugh at those and be honest of our shortcomings. Few examples
of parenting mistakes could be often posting out child picture in social media.
Unintentionally those pictures could contain some sensitive information and it
can put kids to danger or even that child could become easy target for
cyberbullying. Another example of parenting mistake is excessively doing
everything for a child or reacting immediately to their behavior or sometimes
projecting our needs on to kids thinking that only a best future for them is in
our hands. So how can we avoid these mistakes? First, it’s very important to
build out a child’s self-esteem by constantly praising them and letting them do
small things independently and most important thing to do is to use words very
carefully and compassionately and love them constantly for everything they are.
Second key role is to set up discipline rules at home and be consistent at it.
This is extremely needed to develop acceptable behavior and self-control in
children. Next tip is to spend time for kids like eating breakfast with them or
rewarding them with special cookies in kids’ lunchbox or participating in
family activities. And lastly patience and communication is everything. Every
kid deserves a explanation for everything we except from them and as a parent
we must understand this and set our expectations clear and as how a child
changes from being a baby to toddler and then kid to adult, our parenting
style should also change and what may work now for your kid might not work
later but as a parent our role is to provide guidance, encouragement,
discipline and independence. Children grow up too fast and lets all take
advantage of precious time we spend with them. Looking back on Paulo Coelho
quotes, “A child can teach an adult three things, 1) to be happy for no reason
2) To be curious, 3) To fight tirelessly. “Yup There is so much for us to learn
from a child and contrarily it’s not parents who make children but
children who make parents.
