ESSENCE OF SRIMAD BHAGAVAD GITA
My Humble Pranams to all...!! I think so far through my journey in blogging this is going to be most challenging topic personally for me and I hope Lord Krishna gives me the strength to put out the essence of Gita in a most simplest and diligent way and the thoughts expressed in this post is only my understanding of the sacred book and I hope I would cover most of the points mentioned and I also believe that everyone understands it from their own perspective of life but will be able to make connection to it and that’s the beauty of Gita. Gita starts with dilemma of Arjuna, a great warrior who is fighting against injustice worries to fight a war against his own relations whom he cares for and he attempts to give up on the war and so Lord Krishna, his Guru over 18 chapters provides an intense analysis of life and how to handle different emotions. Here comes a broader aspect of what Gita teaches us. 1) It teaches to remain calm and not stressful be it any given situation. 2) It teaches us do the best at any given point of time and in an attitude of not expecting anything in return. Be it like working for any company or helping someone or even a simple duty of serving your own family members we must do it with an attitude of serving to the Lord himself and not expect anything in return. 3) Treat everyone as same. The key aspect behind this to see Lord in everything and every living creature and not to harm others. 4) Don’t get attached too much to anything in this materialistic world. It also means that we must not take pride in anything we do or get too attached to anything in this world as even the body which we too often assume to be our own is perishable but its only the soul that’s unbreakable or indestructible which again is almost the size of thumb that resides in heart. It is also termed as jivatama and the ultimate aim of life is to reach Lord Krishna’s feet or in other words to unite with paramatma. But if we ignore this aim and desire to enjoy the fruits of action then there is only endless rebirth until we understand this and because of these materialistic desires there will only be a lot of distress, lust, anger, greed and chaos in life. 5) Don’t compare with others. Like they say the grass seems greener always on the other side until you get there. It teaches us to be contended with what we have. 6) It also conveys us to eat more healthier food like fresh fruits, vegetables, pure milk and so we can have purest thoughts or build up our Sattvic nature and so keep our mind calm at any given situation. Life is all about managing emotions and different situations. 7) It also insists not to overanalyze any situation instead we must accept our fate and do our best. Any situation in life is not permanent and only change is the law of universe. 8) The Lord Krishna also assures that doing the right work with right attitude will never fail or come to any bad ending. Indirectly he mentions he will bless a good-hearted person with immense success. 9) We must let go of ego and treat everyone with kindness and compassion and take most of the time to devote to the Lord. 10) Ultimate essence of Gita is to think of Lord Krishna every time and do every activity by taking his name and surrendering everything to his lotus feet. Be it even a simple pranayama but let’s remember to take lords name when you breathe in and again when we breathe out and this way we can reach the moksha or ultimate liberation and freedom from the cycle of birth and death.
